Husband Seeks Justice for Wife Murdered by Ex-Spouse in Vendée, France

Nearly six months later, the husband of Samira Atif, a Moroccan woman residing in Saint-Jean-de-Monts (Vendée), killed by a bullet to the head by her ex-husband, demands justice.
Jacky Hachoud struggles to mourn his wife Samira Atif, 47. The Marrakech native was killed by a bullet to the head on December 20, 2024, by her ex-husband as she was about to leave her home in Saint-Jean-de-Monts (Vendée) to go to the town’s school where she cleans, reports ELLE. A murder that deeply affects Jacky. The perpetrator of the murder will be arrested. But for the deceased’s spouse, this murder could have been avoided. "If only an investigation had been done on this man, Samira would still be alive today. This should never have happened," he laments, revealing that the killer had been harassing them, threatening them, following them for years, but the authorities had not taken their reports, complaints, and other alerts seriously.
After his arrest, the perpetrator first denied that it was a femicide before confessing. "In what he told the police, he refuses to admit premeditation. Yet, it’s obvious. He had already come to scout in front of her house to know exactly what time she left for work...," says Jacky. Supported by his lawyer, Anne Bouillon, he still demands justice for "the woman of his life." He painfully awaits the trial: "But where are the men who speak about femicides?," he suddenly wonders. "I am a man, I am the father of a daughter, and I don’t want her to end up with violent men later."
