Hundreds March in Bayonne, Demanding Mosque Attack Be Labeled as Terrorism

Several hundred demonstrators marched on Sunday to support the victims of the attack perpetrated against the Bayonne mosque. They demand that this act be formally recognized as a terrorist attack.
It is in Bayonne, in the Basque country, that this march took place. On banners we can read messages of solidarity but also those calling for collective awareness so that this tragedy is not buried, writes Saphirnews.
This march organized nearly two months after the attack aims to denounce more broadly and openly the hatred against Muslims. Until now, the anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office has not been seized of the case, causing incomprehension and anger among the victims, their relatives and their many supporters.
"Terrorism is to commit an act of terror to send a message to a population. This is exactly what this criminal, who had a far-right political commitment, did," said Dominique Sopo of SOS Racisme.
Claude Sinké, the author of the attack, an octogenarian from the ranks of the far right, has been held in pre-trial detention since his arrest. He faces life imprisonment.
