Homeless Man Sentenced to 3.5 Years for Assaulting Wheelchair User in Montpellier

Tried in immediate appearance for "aggravated violence", a Moroccan homeless man with a heavy criminal record was sentenced to three and a half years in prison. He had beaten a man in a wheelchair.
The events took place on Tuesday, August 2, just after midnight in Montpellier. A 46-year-old Moroccan homeless man was supposed to get off at the Albert-1er tram stop due to temporary construction work, which he did not like. Angry and intoxicated, he crosses the gaze of a 39-year-old Montpellier man in a wheelchair and insults him. He then takes out a knife with an open blade and punches the disabled man twice in the face.
After the attack, he flees, but he will be caught by a police patrol a few moments later. Arrested and then placed in custody, this quadragenarian whose criminal record bears mention of 35 convictions, in particular for aggravated violence, robbery with violence, forgery, weapons transport or rebellion, denies the facts. But the surveillance cameras confound him.
He will be tried in immediate appearance for "aggravated violence". This father of three children was sentenced on Wednesday, August 3 to three and a half years in prison, reports Midi Libre. Information confirmed by the Montpellier prosecutor’s office.
