Homeless Man with Parkinson's Receives Outpouring of Support After Viral Video

Mohamed, 51, is a homeless man in Sartrouville (Yvelines) living in a car in the shopping center parking lot. Thanks to an outpouring of solidarity, he hopes to have a future again.

The broadcast of a video filmed by Sofiane Zekri on social networks was enough to trigger an outpouring of solidarity towards Mohamed, a homeless man suffering from Parkinson’s disease.

This 51-year-old man was able to enjoy a few nights in a hotel, reports Le Parisien.

"I really thank Sofiane. Thanks to him, people have stopped turning their gaze when they cross me," Mohamed said.

He also wholeheartedly thanked all these people for their generosity, sympathy and kindness. "All this has given me hope for the future," he said, happy.

For his part, Sofiane is pleased that his initiative is bearing fruit. "People from the neighborhood immediately gave money. Some people pooled their money to pay for these hotel nights for him.

Ladies regularly come to see him to bring him hot meals they prepare," he said.

According to Sofiane, Mohammed used part of the money to buy a small phone and a cheap subscription, allowing him to be reachable and to carry out his procedures, particularly those related to housing.

His disability has indeed prevented him from obtaining housing for several years. He has also lost all his papers during his moves from shelter to shelter.

Fortunately, people have offered to start over from scratch with him and help him restart the procedures.

For Emmanuelle Aubrun, Deputy Mayor of Sartrouville in charge of Social Affairs, housing is a fundamental need for Mohammed.

"I have already received this gentleman to discuss his situation and he is actually entitled to mandatory housing, according to the state services, who are looking for a solution for him," she reassured.
