High-Speed Car Chase in France Ends with Arrest of Two Burglary Suspects

Two motorcyclists managed to apprehend two young Moroccans aged 24 and 25 who were allegedly involved in an attempted burglary following a car chase in Veneux. Their trial will open on Monday in Fontainebleau.

"It could have been a massacre... We have five injured police officers, but we didn’t let go and we got them!" declares the acting head of the Moret police station. The events took place last Tuesday around 6:20 pm in Veneux-les-Sablons, reports Le Parisien. Following an alert, the police went after two young Moroccans who tried to break into a house before fleeing in a Peugeot 406.

This is the beginning of a crazy 25-minute car chase that endangered the lives of passengers and police officers. It is impossible for the Moret police to apprehend these two alleged offenders. From Veneux to Avon, the arrest proved complicated. Elements from the Fontainebleau and Montereau police stations, as well as two motorcyclists from Melun, come as reinforcements.

They are now more numerous behind the two young men. But this has hardly dampened the ardor of the 406 driver. He takes enormous risks and swerves to hit them, the same source specifies. He is now driving on one and a half rims, reaches the height of Rue Rémy-Dumoncel in Avon and hits the large iron gate of the castle.

It is at this level that the young Moroccan fled. The Montereau police and the Melun motorcyclists go after him. He makes them go through hell. Two motorcyclists finally manage to stop him. His accomplice, on the other hand, has inflicted punches, kicks, and headbutts on the police officers. They arrest him. An arrest that left sequelae on the law enforcement officers.

During their interrogation, the two alleged offenders talk about an incident in Moret, and claim they wanted to "flee armed people driving with blue lights". During the search of the 406, the investigators found several watches, clothes and shoes of different sizes that would belong to them. They are homeless and known for burglary. They are also subject to an obligation to leave French territory (OQTF), then an injunction to leave French territory (IQTF).

The two young Moroccans are now being prosecuted for attempted burglary in a group, failure to comply, endangering the lives of others, rebellion, driving without a license, violence against public officials and even... damage to a cultural site (the castle gate dating back to Napoleon I was unscrewed by 20 cm!).
