Halal Butcher Shop Closed After Selling Wild Boar, Health Violations

Closed "until further notice" by a prefectural decree, the 100% halal butcher shop in the Seine-Saint-Denis prefecture, located on Avenue Jean-Jaurès in Bobigny, was selling wild boar.
It all started with a health inspection carried out on December 31, 2024, after a report received by the departmental directorate for the protection of populations (DDPP). The health inspection revealed thirteen infractions, including the potential interruption of the cold chain, "lack of manual hygiene", the "proliferation of pests", and "very insufficient" cleaning. Other surprising infractions were the "possession, handling, cutting and sale of wild boar meat without any veterinary stamp certifying the wholesomeness of the meat" in this "100% halal" butcher shop.
"Fourteen wild boar carcasses and several vacuum-packed pieces of wild boar meat were found in a cold room," details the Seine-Saint-Denis prefecture to Le Parisien, specifying that they were "impounded and then seized by the State services." Enough to shock the regular customers of the butcher shop. "He welcomed us with a smile, and behind that he did this to us? There is really no respect for our religion," fumes Leonce, who came once a week. He plans to file a complaint for fraud. Based on these infractions, the Seine-Saint-Denis prefecture issued a decree on January 3, 2025 ordering the emergency closure of the "Bobigny Butcher Shop" until further notice.
This is not the first time this business has been closed for health reasons. These previous closures date back to 2021 and 2023. "I would never have bought here! it stinks, it’s dirty, the meat is black," charges a resident of Bobigny. Another resident says she has not bought any meat products here since the first closure.
