Hakim Ziyech, in tears and in a djellaba, buried his brother in Morocco
The emotion was palpable this Monday in the province of Berkane. Hakim Ziyech, the star of Wydad de Casablanca, bid his final farewell to his brother, Essam, during a poignant funeral, marked by recollection and the grief of a bereaved family.
It is far from the pitches and fervor of the stadiums that the Moroccan international is living his darkest hours. In the rural commune of Rislane, the birthplace of his family, Hakim Ziyech accompanied his brother to his final resting place. The images of the ceremony show a dignified man but visibly shattered by the ordeal. Dressed in the traditional djellaba, the player insisted on carrying the coffin himself, fulfilling this ultimate duty with touching humility.
Despite his efforts to contain his emotion in public, the distress of the WAC midfielder was impossible to conceal. With a marked face, he was surrounded by his loved ones and the inhabitants of the region who came to offer their condolences. This family tragedy comes after a trying week for the Ziyech clan, the deceased having succumbed to a long illness.
