Grenade Attack on Moroccan Family in Belgium: Police Seek Emergency Records to Advance Investigation

Following a grenade attack targeting a Moroccan family in Belgium, an investigating judge would like to have the emergency records in order to further the ongoing investigation.
In the night of September 1st to 2nd in Borgerhout, a cyclist had thrown a grenade at a van, recall Het Nieuwsblad and Gazet van Antwerpen. According to the same sources, he would have been injured in the hands.
Thereupon, the federal police had opened an investigation. Similarly, it had issued a wanted notice with surveillance camera images, which remains fruitless so far.
Faced with the situation, the justice intends to consult the list of people admitted to the emergency room between September 2 and 13 with injuries to the hands or arms. Only people aged 14 to 30 are targeted.
The request from the investigating judge has received the consent of the Data Protection Authority. It considers that "this is a serious offense that must be solved as quickly as possible".
