GPS Mishap Leads Moroccan Truck to Block French Village for Hours

Four hours. That’s how long it took to clear a truck registered in Morocco that got stuck overnight from Sunday to Monday in a narrow street in Granges-Gontardes, near Pierrelatte, in the Drôme.
Following his GPS instructions, the driver of the 30-ton truck entered a small departmental road that was too narrow on Sunday, report TF1 and Le Dauphiné Libéré. According to witnesses, the driver continued to advance, despite the prohibition signs installed at the entrance of the village. "He moved forward there, he moved forward, he moved forward, then he found himself stuck there, and then it was over," recounts a resident who witnessed the scene.
It took four hours for the recovery teams to clear this truck that blocked the street, preventing residents from going about their business. "Luckily we had nothing to do. But otherwise, if I had to go out urgently, where would I go?" said a resident.
Trucks often cause damage when passing through the town. A situation that worries Mayor Hélène Mouly: "Often children watch for the bus and lean out to see if the bus is coming, and there I must say that I’m very worried when I pass by and see a truck coming."
