Global Bubble Tea Giant Gong cha Expands to Morocco, Eyes North African Market

Gong cha, the fastest growing Taiwanese tea brand in the world, is setting up in Morocco as part of its partnership with the European franchisee Mad Vision Group. Its ambition: to make the kingdom its starting point for the conquest of other North African markets.
Gong cha is preparing to open 15 points of sale in Morocco and to conquer the North African markets. The first store will be inaugurated in Casablanca, according to World Coffee Portal. Its establishment in North Africa is part of the strengthening of its partnership with the European franchisee Mad Vision Group. "Mad Vision Group has been an excellent partner for Gong cha. They have already opened more than 10 stores in the Benelux and France. We are delighted to open our third market with them in Morocco, with a flagship store of 160 m²," said Paul Reynish, CEO of Gong cha. And he added: "This will also be Gong cha’s first foray into Africa - a high-growth market with significant growth potential in the years to come. Our east-to-west story continues with the opening of our 24th country."
In addition to Africa, the Taiwanese brand also targets the MENA region markets. In January, it signed the "largest master franchise agreement in its history" with the Saudi group Shahia Foods to open 300 stores across the Middle East.
Founded in 2006 in Taiwan, Gong cha has managed to establish itself on the international commercial scene. Today, the brand has more than 2,100 points in 25 markets worldwide.
