Global Activists Launch 24-Hour Hunger Strike for Jailed Moroccan Journalist

In support of journalist Soulaiman Raissouni, the France Committee in support of Maâti Monjib is launching an international hunger strike campaign on Wednesday, May 26, 2021. To this end, it is inviting democratic men and women to observe a symbolic 24-hour hunger strike tomorrow.
"On that day, all over the world, all democratic men and women are called upon to observe a symbolic 24-hour hunger strike while Soulaiman Raissouni will be on his 49th day of hunger strike," says the France Committee in Support of Maâti Monjib in a statement.
"Persons declaring themselves as supportive strikers can report to the Committee or to the association that has relayed this campaign, publish this solidarity commitment on social networks using support posters or gather with others in a public place in order to alert public opinion," the Committee states, specifying that this hunger strike campaign will continue on Thursday, May 27, Friday, May 28, Saturday, May 29, Sunday, May 30 and Monday, May 31 respectively in Amsterdam and its region, Brussels and its region, Lille and its region, Paris and its region, Lyon and its region; and from Tuesday, June 1 to Friday, June 4 respectively in Avignon and its region, Marseille - Aix and its region, Montpellier - Toulouse and its region, and in Spain......
On May 22, 2021, it had been a year since the journalist was "scandalously arrested without evidence," the Committee informs, recalling that Soulaiman Raissouni "has embarked on an unlimited hunger strike to denounce his detention conditions and demand his release." According to the Committee, Raissouni’s "only salvation lies in his immediate release," because "he is in grave danger, if not of death." This is why, declaring itself a striker, the Committee is appealing to "international public opinion and the Moroccan authorities to demand the release of Soulaiman Raissouni."
