GIGN Seizes 558 Kilos of Moroccan Cannabis in Major Highway Drug Bust

The elements of the National Gendarmerie Intervention Group (GIGN), assisted by gendarmes from Orléans and Eure-et-Loir, intercepted, on March 10, two cars (a "scout" and a "carrier") transporting 558.4 kilos of Moroccan cannabis resin on the A10 at the level of Châtellerault.
According to the Directorate General of the Gendarmerie, in addition to the quantity of Moroccan cannabis seized, the gendarmes also seized eleven vehicles, nearly 120,000 euros and various equipment (many luxury items, a machine for stamping license plates, blank plates and a banknote counter), reports Centre Presse. In total, four criminals were arrested and then presented to the investigating judge on March 13. The latter ordered their indictment and placement in pre-trial detention.
It was on a rogatory commission from a judge in Chartres that the gendarmes carried out this operation on March 10. It follows a first seizure of 343 kilos of resin, carried out at the end of 2021 on a toll booth in Eure-et-Loir.
