Gennevilliers Mosque Offers Sheep for Eid al-Adha as Local Market Closes

Only the Ennour mosque in Gennevilliers serves as a supply point for Muslim worshippers. The only livestock market in Hauts-de-Seine has closed its doors for the first time in fifteen years.
In the absence of the livestock market on Rue de l’Industrie, to stock up on sheep, the solution is all found. "You can order your sheep here, at the mosque," announces Abdelbaki Attaf, one of the administrators of the Ennour Association, as he leaves the Friday prayer on August 9, 2019. The usual market has closed its doors, notably for financial reasons, reports Le Parisien.
"For the second year in a row, we are taking care of everything. We order the sheep directly from a breeder in Dreux (Eure) that we know," assures Abdelbaki Attaf. To do this, the faithful make their reservation for their animal online or at the Ennour office.
In addition, the animals, sold at 240 or 280 €, are slaughtered on site and transported to Gennevilliers on the day of Aïd, and distributed according to Muslim rite. "The veterinary services ensure that the health rules are respected and our two controllers that the spiritual rules are also," says the Ennour Administrator.
For now, about a hundred animals have been purchased through this channel.
