UN General Assembly: Morocco Joins 142 Nations in Condemning Russian Annexation of Ukrainian Regions

Presented on Wednesday at the 11th special session of the UN General Assembly, the resolution condemning Russia’s annexation of Ukrainian regions was voted by 143 countries, including Morocco.
The draft resolution entitled "Territorial integrity of Ukraine: defending the principles of the UN Charter" aims to condemn the referendums that preceded Moscow’s declaration of the annexation of Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhia.
Morocco aligned itself with the majority of members to vote in favor of this resolution. On the other hand, five countries (Belarus, Russia, Syria, Nicaragua and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) voted against, while 35 abstained, reports the UN website.
As a result, the General Assembly called on the United Nations and international agencies not to recognize the changes announced by Russia to the borders, and called on Moscow to "immediately and unconditionally return" to its decisions.
