Galatasaray Snubs Ziyech in Europa League Victory Over Elfsborg

The Moroccan attacking midfielder Hakim Ziyech did not participate in Wednesday’s match against the Swedish club Elfsborg in the third round of the Europa League, which ended in a victory for the Istanbulites (4-3).
Okan Buruk did not line up Hakim Ziyech for the match against Elfsborg counting for the third round of the Europa League. The Galatasaray coach has modified the team’s playing style, preferring a strategy including three defenders, five midfielders and two forwards, without calling on Ziyech, reports the Turkish site Sondakika. Is the Turkish coach sidelining the 31-year-old player? Has he chosen to save the Moroccan international? It is difficult to affirm.

Absent from official competitions for eight matches in the Turkish championship and the continental competition, due to an injury sustained during the match against Lesotho (1-0) on September 9, which kept him off the pitch for a long period, Ziyech returned to participate in the match against Antalyaspor as part of the ninth round of the championship last week. He only played for twenty minutes. The Moroccan attacking midfielder has participated in only five matches with Galatasaray this current season, after a long absence due to his injury. His contract with the Turkish club runs until June 30, 2025.
After their victory over Elfsborg, Galatasaray are preparing for their next match against Besiktas in the tenth round of the championship, one of the most intense derbies in Istanbul.
