Gad Elmaleh Urges France to Learn from Morocco’s Earthquake Response

Invited to the "C l’Hebdo" show broadcast on Saturday on France 5, Moroccan comedian and actor Gad Elmaleh shared his point of view on several topics, including the earthquake that hit Morocco a week ago, urging France to "draw inspiration from Moroccan solidarity" rather than lecturing.
During the show hosted by Aurélie Casse, Gad Elmaleh said that the people most affected by the earthquake in Morocco are those living "in places far from the city center of Marrakech, so fragile populations, who are in great distress," recalling that "the time is for mobilization".
Questioned by columnist Natacha Polony who asked if "the tense relations between France and Morocco" made "things difficult for a Franco-Moroccan like [him] in these circumstances", the native of Casablanca immediately corrects that he is not "Franco-Moroccan", but "Moroccan immigrant in France". "I love France deeply, like an immigrant loves France, like many immigrants love and respect France," he affirms.
"I hear French politicians talk endlessly about national unity, national cohesion and living together... Draw inspiration from what is happening in Morocco in terms of unity, cohesion, organic solidarity that is in the DNA of Moroccan culture, which is not feigned, which is not a posture. Draw inspiration from that rather than teaching us how we should be in solidarity," the Moroccan comedian also said, whose intervention was widely acclaimed by Moroccan Internet users on social networks.
