French Tourists Attacked and Robbed in Morocco’s Kenitra Region

Two French nationals were attacked this Sunday morning in Souk Tlat, in the Kenitra region, according to local authorities cited by the MAP.
Few details have been given about this attack, but it seems that the French were victims of stone throwing on their caravan while they were traveling on national road number 1. The man behind this attack then robbed them of some of their belongings before fleeing.
Seriously injured in the head, the 73-year-old husband was taken to the provincial hospital, the same sources said. The health condition of his wife has not been disclosed by the local authorities.
The security services, mainly gendarmes, have identified and located the aggressor and an operation is currently underway to arrest him.
In December 2017, a young Frenchman who was driving at night on the highway near Casablanca was seriously injured by stone throwing. Ted Chiancone, who frequently went to Morocco to visit his mother, lost an eye there. "I can no longer stand the noise and I do not accept what happened to me. I am vulnerable. I can no longer practice sports. Doctors are adamant: if I get hit or fall on my head I can die," he had explained to the local press, even having ended a boxing career after his attack.
