French Tourist Among 4 Injured in Knife Attack at Fez Café

An investigation has been opened by the prefectural judicial police service in the city of Fez following the knife attack on several people, including a French tourist.
In a press release, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) indicates that the suspect, who has mental disorders, attacked 4 people seated on the terrace of a café, near Bab Boujloud, specifying that one of the victims is a 27-year-old French tourist.
This attack was carried out with a small folding knife, according to the DGSN, which states that the French national as well as the other victims suffered minor injuries to the shoulder and fingers and were all taken to the hospital for necessary care.
Last year, three people, including a minor, had been convicted by the Fez Court of Appeal for the assault of British tourists. The minor was sentenced to 2 years in prison, while the other two were sentenced to 4 years in prison each for "forming a criminal association, aggravated theft and assault with a deadly weapon".
