French Student Embarks on 2,400-km Horseback Journey from France to Morocco

Passionate about horses, Mona Hocine-O’Connor has undertaken to ride her faithful companion Hero to Sefrou in Morocco from her hometown of Locronan, France.
Mona will cover 2,424 km on her 1.70 meter tall horse, from her hometown of Locronan to Sefrou, a Moroccan village at the foot of the Middle Atlas. The young woman, a student in applied foreign languages, plans to start this odyssey in October, which should last about three months, if she manages to cover about twenty kilometers per day.
"At first, I wanted to do a master’s degree in foreign languages, but now I would like to become an equine osteopath," Mona explains to the newspaper Le Télégramme, adding that she also has a project to create a horse trekking company in this region of Morocco. In love with the kingdom, she has already participated in several editions of the El Jadida horse show.
"I favor ethical and solidarity tourism, not superficial tourism. And at the same time, it would provide jobs there, based on our values and principles," she comments. The young adventurer has already mapped out her itinerary and identified her accommodation locations. After Spain, she will ride up to Tangier, then travel another 400 km before reaching her final destination, Sefrou.
