French Retirees Flock to Morocco for Winter Sun and Lower Living Costs

More than 30,000 French retirees leave France during the winter to go to Morocco, reports the French channel France 2 in a report entitled "The Swallows of Agadir".
For the French channel, they "go down each year in motorhomes towards the Moroccan sun, as soon as the cold sets in on the Hexagon. And like the swallows, these retirees return to the nest when it’s better in France".
These retirees particularly appreciate the mild climate and the low cost of living, like Alain and his wife who bought a "cozy motorhome on a whim" or Christian, 70, who volunteers to organize activities at the Terre d’Océan family campsite in Taghazout near Agadir.
According to the Retraite sans Frontières website, there would be 50,000 in 2018 to have chosen Morocco for their retirement, making the kingdom the second country after Portugal.
In addition to its climate, the cost of living is 40% cheaper than in France.
