French Retiree Collects Over 2,200 Books for Moroccan Youth Centers

Alain Gérard, a resident of Bourg-Dun in Seine-Maritime, launched a book collection, of all genres, for the benefit of two social centers that welcome children and adolescents in Oued Amlil, in eastern Morocco. A few months after this call, more than 2,000 books are ready to be shipped to the Kingdom for the happiness of those who are the recipients.
Exactly 2,232 books were collected in two months, according to actu.fr. A real feat for the Association des Livres pour Aïcha, which has requested subsidies from the municipality and the Côte d’Albâtre community of communes.
The 2,232 books, divided into 65 boxes, have already left Cany-Barville on September 18 and will reach Morocco by the end of October, according to the site.
Thanks to the Association des Livres pour Aïcha, 140 children and adolescents in boarding school will be able to read, as the Association has obtained authorization from the Moroccan Ministry of Culture for this solidarity action.
