French Retail Tycoon Xavier Marie Expands Business to Marrakech

The ready-to-wear industrialist Xavier Marie, ranked 316th on the list of the wealthiest people in France, has just set up his subsidiary called "Maroc Polo", a holding, consulting and business commission company, in Marrakech.
The creation of "Maroc Polo" was effective on January 27 in the ochre city, reports Afrique Intelligence. Xavier Marie, founder of the large furniture and decoration chain Maisons du Monde, began developing an interest in French-made fashion and luxury from 2015. That year, the decoration champion had sold his group to Bain Capital for 680 million euros.
Subsequently, he set up the Compagnie Marco Polo (CMP). In 2017, he bought the Maison Bonton, specialized in children’s clothing; the Rautureau group, famous manufacturer of Free Lance and No Name shoes; the Paul Ka group of luxury women’s ready-to-wear, and finally the children’s decoration brand Le Petit Souk. In 2019, he invested 64 million euros, which represents his biggest investment.
Xavier Marie’s ambition is to develop his 100% French fashion-luxury galaxy. He is betting, among other things, on Morocco.
