French Politician Mélenchon Condemns ’Anti-Muslim Sentiment’ Masked as Secularism

Deputy Jean-Luc Mélenchon, a candidate for the 2022 presidential election, denounces the existence of a "hatred of Muslims disguised as secularism" in France.
"There is in this country, manufactured, fueled by a whole current of ideas, a hatred of Muslims disguised as secularism. Secularism is not the hatred of a religion. The secular state is not the atheism of the state. The Muslims of France must be respected! Enough of showing them as suspects and pointing the finger at them, constantly! It’s unbearable!" he exclaims angrily on the set of BFM.
The leader of France Insoumise hammers that France must not fall apart. He therefore calls for an end to the attempt at the war of religion. "The Republic does not recognize any cult but protects the freedom of conscience and worship," the elected official recalled.
