French Politician Calls for Halt on New Mosque Construction After Paris Attack

The knife attack that occurred within the Paris Police Headquarters last Thursday, with the death of four civil servants, continues to agitate the news in France. Among other solutions to prevent such a tragedy from happening again, there is the halt of the construction of new mosques, according to Nadine Morano. The European deputy expressed herself on BFMTV on Sunday, October 6th.
Nadine Morano believes that the need to address the problem of the practice of Islam in France is becoming more pressing. "We must no longer open new mosques. We have to solve this problem, that’s all," she said, according to Saphirnews.
For her, far from holding an Islamophobic or racist discourse, it is a "subject of protection of Muslims living in France", Muslims "who are integrated and who live their religion in a normal way" and who are "exasperated by the laxity of the rulers".
According to her, the halt in the opening of mosques "is not a question of penalizing, it is a question of protection as well".
The former Minister also believes that Christophe Castaner lied to the French about what he knew about the assailant who killed four people on Thursday, October 3rd. While acknowledging "flaws", he ruled out this possibility. He retains the confidence of Prime Minister Édouard Philippe.
