French Police Seize Ton of Moroccan Cannabis in Highway Drug Bust Near Nîmes

A large quantity of drugs from Morocco was seized during the night of October 18 to 19 on the A9 motorway, near Orange. Several people were arrested.
More specifically, it was a ton of cannabis, found in a van coming from Spain, which was intercepted by the soldiers of the GIGN antenna in Orange at the level of the Grand Gallargues toll in the Gard, as indicated by the Nîmes public prosecutor’s office. The drugs were packaged in the form of Moroccan suitcases.
The packages were subjected to scientific and technical tests and a search was carried out in a house in Vauvert where the drugs were apparently to be delivered. However, the police are still looking for other accomplices on board another car, the same source points out.
Several people were taken into custody and an investigation was opened, entrusted to the Vauvert brigade and the Nîmes research section. The public prosecutor’s office recalls that the day before, on Monday, October 17, 241 kilos of cannabis had already been seized on the same route.
