French Nationals Sentenced in Morocco for Terrorism-Related Charges

Three French nationals were sentenced to prison terms ranging from 1 to 5 years in cases related to terrorism. The sentence was handed down by the Criminal Chamber in charge of terrorism cases at the Court of Appeal of Salé.
Several charges were then brought against them: "constitution of a gang for the purpose of preparing and committing terrorist acts as part of a collective project aimed at seriously undermining public order", "apology and incitement to terrorism" and "failure to report acts constituting a terrorist crime".
The court sentenced them in a single case with sentences of 1, 4 and 5 years in prison.
Some others were sentenced to various sentences. One of them was sentenced to 9 years in prison after admitting the facts against him.
For Le360, the latter had recorded a video that he posted on YouTube in which he pledged allegiance to a terrorist organization.
The fourth defendant, from the southern provinces, was sentenced to 6 years in prison for his affiliation with ISIS and for his plan to join the "jihadists" in Syria and Iraq.
As for the other defendants, they received similar sentences and are also being prosecuted for crimes related to terrorism, affiliation with ISIS, terrorism financing as well as for the constitution of a criminal gang affiliated with ISIS.
