French National Faces Trial in Morocco for Sheep Killing Incident, Remains in Custody

The trial of the French resident, prosecuted for having crushed a flock of sheep and made threats against the young shepherd, opened this Monday, May 11 at the court of first instance of Benslimane.
During the hearing, which took place by videoconference, the investigating judge in charge of the case decided to postpone the hearing to May 18 next, in order to allow the lawyers of the two parties to complete their files and prepare their pleadings. The Court also refused to grant provisional release to the accused.
About ten people, mobilized by activist militants, demonstrated their solidarity in front of the courthouse, for fear that the accused could benefit from preferential treatment, reports the site Akhbarona.
To recall, the Frenchman, owner of a house on the Essanaouber beach, near Bouznika, had admitted the charges against him during his custody.
