French Muslims to Begin Ramadan on April 24 Despite Mosque Closures

The coronavirus has certainly succeeded in closing the mosques, but it will not prevent the Muslim community in France from sacrificing the tradition of fasting during the month of Ramadan.
The Muslim Theological Council of France (CTMF) declared on the evening of Thursday, April 9, that "the conjunction of the new moon will take place on April 23, 2020 at 2:26 GMT (4:26 Paris time), and that the new crescent moon will be visible on the same day at 5:43 PM GMT". Thus, "the first day of the month of Ramadan will be Friday, April 24, 2020".
As for the French Council of the Muslim Faith (CFCM), it prefers to wait until the eve, after the meeting of the major federations that will be held on April 23, before being certain. A month of Ramadan that comes in an exceptional context, in a France ravaged by an unprecedented health crisis.
