French-Moroccan Visa Restrictions Set to Ease, Official Says

During his visit to Morocco, M’jid El Guerrab, outgoing French deputy from the 9th constituency of French citizens abroad, assured that the difficulties hindering the procedure for issuing French visas for Moroccan nationals will be lifted within a few weeks.
The light at the end of the tunnel is in sight. In an interview with Le360, Deputy M’jid El Guerrab stated that the Moroccan and French governments are in talks to lift the difficulties that hinder the issuance of visas by French consulates for Moroccan nationals. He says he has repeatedly raised the issue of "visa quotas for Morocco" with the French government and has received a "clear response."
"Things have been going in the right direction for a few weeks now, and the Moroccan administration, the French embassy in Morocco and the Moroccan embassy in Paris are working hand in hand. The situation is gradually improving," the elected official assured.
France had decided at the end of September to reduce by 50% the granting of visas for Moroccans and Algerians and by 30% for Tunisians because Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia do not allow the return, as they are accused, of their expelled nationals.
