French-Moroccan Dual National Arrested in Morocco on Terrorism Suspicions

A French national, who also holds Moroccan nationality, was arrested on Saturday, July 20, 2019, by the police services in Meknes. He is accused of having links with terrorist groups.
"The Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ), under the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), arrested on Saturday, July 20, in Meknes, a Moroccan holding French nationality, suspected of being involved in extremist and criminal activities in France," the statement said.
It further specifies that the meticulous investigations revealed that the suspect illegally entered the Moroccan national territory, after his involvement in the escape operation of a detainee from a penitentiary institution in France, and that he has forged links with fighters active in the ranks of terrorist groups, on the Syrian-Iraqi scene.
Furthermore, the suspect is said to have engaged, after his entry into Morocco, in the trafficking and marketing of products of dubious origin, in coordination with criminal networks operating abroad.
The suspect will be brought to justice shortly, once the investigation is completed.
