French Media Regulator Warns LCI Over Zemmour’s Anti-Islamic Comments

The Islamophobic remarks made by the polemicist, Eric Zemmour, on the sets of the French television channel LCI are not to the liking of the Conseil supérieur de l’Audiovisuel (CSA). The regulatory body has warned the media.
He is a repeat offender. Eric Zemmour has, once again, taken certain liberties with his speech. Live on LCI, on February 19, 2019, he had declared: "We have been told that Islam is a religion of peace and love, whereas we know well that this anti-Semitism is the product of an Islamic culture that comes from very far away".
These various Islamophobic remarks were the subject of a complaint filed before the Conseil supérieur de l’Audiovisuel (CSA), nearly six months after this morning show.
By means of a press release dated Friday, August 2, 2019, the CSA regrets: "The presenter had not provided any contradiction or asked for clarification on the guest’s statements".
According to the same press release, the CSA has warned LCI about these speeches that sound like an "implicit exhortation to discrimination", before reminding the Channel of its duty, namely "not to encourage discriminatory behavior on the basis of race, sex, religion, or nationality" but "to promote the values of integration and solidarity that are those of the Republic and [...] to fight against discrimination".
