New French Islamic Studies Institute Aims to Advance Research and Understanding

The French Institute of Islamic Studies (IFI) was created to promote international research and to link science and society. It is led by the Franco-Moroccan Souâd Ayada.
Created under a legal regime of a public interest group (GIP) bringing together higher education and research institutions, this institute was born out of the desire of French President Emmanuel Macron to develop in France a better understanding of Islam through the development of high-level studies and research in Islamic studies in French higher education.
The objective is to strengthen non-denominational high-level research, teaching and scientific training in Islamic studies.
The IFI will be led by Souâd Ayada, a general inspector, currently president of the Higher Council of Programs.
