French Interior Minister Praises Expulsion of Controversial Imam to Morocco

The French Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, reacted to the expulsion by Belgium of the imam of Lourches Hassan Iquioussen, accused of holding "for years a hateful discourse against the values of France" towards Morocco.
"I am pleased with the cooperation we have had with Belgium. I would sincerely like to thank the Belgian government and the Moroccan authorities who were listening to us to expel this gentleman (Hassan Iquioussen) who had no business on French and European territory," the minister reacted during a visit to Lille.

Gérald Darmanin had ordered the expulsion from French territory of Hassan Iquioussen, accused of holding "for years a hateful discourse against the values of France", towards Morocco. "He has been carrying extremely nauseating ideas for so many years, especially in northern France," he added.
On Friday, the imam of Lourches, Hassan Iquioussen, was expelled from Belgium, where he had taken refuge after fleeing France to avoid an expulsion order. At the height of this legal saga, he lost his right of residence in France. Born in northern France almost sixty years ago, the Muslim dignitary does not have French nationality, which has been refused to him on several occasions.
