French Far-Right Leader Files Complaint Over Comedian’s Alleged Anti-White Remarks
The alleged anti-white remarks made by Moroccan-born comedian Mustapha El Atrassi in a show where he invited Moroccans and Algerians to insult gwers (Whites) are not to the liking of MEP and president of the Identity-Liberties party, Marion Maréchal. She has announced that she is taking legal action for incitement to hatred, denouncing "totally uninhibited" anti-white racism.
"We are together, we are united and I tell you for the last time, all the time we waste insulting each other between Moroccans and Algerians is time wasted not insulting the gwers," Mustapha El Atrassi told his audience during a show whose video has gone viral on social media. He then repeated three times: "Free up time for the gwers - a term used pejoratively to refer to White people". This provoked the irritation of Marion Maréchal, MEP and president of the Identity-Liberties party.
On Sunday, May 25, she announced that she would refer the matter to the public prosecutor on the basis of Article 40 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, for "incitement to hatred". "To the cheers of the audience, the ’comedian’ displays his totally uninhibited anti-white racism (sorry, anti-gwer...)", denounced the ECR MEP in a post on X.
The video also shows a spectator leaving the room, visibly shocked by the comedian’s remarks. "Where are you going?" El Atrassi asks him. The man replies: "I’m apparently not welcome, because I’m a gwer". The comedian concludes, after the spectator’s departure: "I’ve upset the gwers. Aren’t we better off now?"
On the web, many internet users have cried out in indignation. "Imagine the scandal if an artist had said: ’The time we waste insulting each other between French and Belgians is time wasted not insulting Arabs’," writes one internet user. Another calls out to the Minister of the Interior: "Mr. Retailleau, are you going to act against this ’comedian’ who calls for hatred of White people in public? The call for hatred and violence is obvious and the French are waiting for you to make a decision".
