French Economy Minister to Visit Morocco Amid Industrial Relations Reset

A few weeks ago, a controversy had flared up following the remarks made by Bruno Le Maire on French industrialists based in Morocco. Today, the time seems to be for appeasement and the French Minister of the Economy is even expected in Morocco.
Bruno Le Maire first seized the opportunity of a meeting with Minister Mohamed Benchaâboun to clarify his remarks deemed undiplomatic. Indeed, he had, in his remarks, criticized PSA and Renault, two major industries established in Morocco. But he has fortunately retracted his remarks to smooth out the differences and start on new bases, specifies Le360.
He recalled being entrusted with a mission, that of reflecting on a new French industrial model with a view to establishing a French productive pact with results for 2030 and 2050.
"There must be no ambiguity. The industrial partnerships between Morocco and France are of quality. The investments of French groups in Morocco are not targeted. No one questions the place that Morocco occupies as a growth and competitiveness relay for French companies," said Bruno Le Maire.
He also took the opportunity to announce that he will make a visit to Morocco next January to deepen discussions with Moroccan officials, but also to prepare the visit of President Emmanuel Macron, scheduled for the first quarter of 2020, the same source points out.
