At the port of Fos-sur-Mer, a shipment of narcotics was seized during a routine check, according to a press release from the Marseille prosecutor’s office. The drugs were hidden in bags, on board a ship coming from the United States and having transited through Central America, Morocco, Spain and Italy, before arriving at the first port of France.
These bags were filled with cocaine bricks, for a total weight of 291 kg. According to the estimates of the customs authorities, this quantity of drugs could cost 11,642,500 euros.
After this discovery, the Anti-Narcotics Office (OFAST) was seized. It is currently conducting an investigation to "identify, arrest and hear the perpetrators" of this cocaine transport.
For the Marseille prosecutor, Dominique Laurens, "this operation once again demonstrates the vigilance, involvement and work of the services in the fight against organized crime, even in this period of health crisis".
