French Court Upholds Dissolution of Controversial Islamic Organizations CCIF and BarakaCity

The Council of State validated on Friday, September 24, the dissolution of the Collective against Islamophobia in France (CCIF) - reconstituted in Belgium under the name of the Collective against Islamophobia in Europe (CCIE) - and of BarakaCity, enacted by the government in December 2020 after the assassination of Samuel Paty.

The Council of State has ruled. The highest administrative court has confirmed Friday the dissolution by the government of the Collective against Islamophobia (CCIF) and BarakaCity that occurred at the end of 2020 after the assassination of Samuel Paty by a young extremist, reports the AFP.

"This decision, both in its target and its motives, marks a major turning point in the institutionalization of political and repressive arbitrariness in France," the CCIF reacted in a statement. The association denounces an "administrative drift" of the government that opens "the way to the offense of opinion".

"The facts are there and this chapter ends under the gaze of all with this conclusion: a Muslim NGO has been dissolved, without ever having been prosecuted or convicted for the reasons of its dissolution, at a time when a convicted person for racial hatred details in prime time," in reference to the polemicist Eric Zemmour, also reacted BarakaCity.

In a tweet, the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, welcomed the decisions of the Council of State, which confirms "the validity of the dissolution of BarakaCity and the CCIF." "The fight against Islamist ideology takes a decisive step forward," he rejoiced.
