French Couple Stranded in Morocco Petitions Macron for Ferry Repatriation

Stranded in Morocco, a Frenchman launched an online petition on April 14 to demand his repatriation by ferry from the government.
This Vosges resident and his wife, who had declined the offer of repatriation by plane because they did not want to be separated from their vehicle, will have to wait a long time before returning to France, reports francebleu. "There are some who live, all year round, in their motorhome, and that represents a certain capital. In addition, motorhomes are only insured for six months abroad. Imagine if we leave it there, there could be vandalism or a fire in the campsite," he said.
Like Hubert Bergé, this resident of Contrexéville, thousands of campers are patiently waiting for a next return to the country. Due to confinement, and lack of ferry service between Morocco and Spain, they cannot return to France.
The author of the petition estimates that 4 to 5,000 campers would be in the same situation as him. "Morocco is a very nice country. But what we want is to return to France, if only to find our home and our habits."
For now, his request has remained unanswered, the same media points out: "If they gave us a date telling us that from June 1st, we could return to France: we would take our patience. But there we know nothing, they tell us nothing," he says, completely desperate.
According to the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, steps are underway to organize new ferry trips after those made on March 31 and April 4.
