French Comedian Speaks Out on Growing Pressure on Muslims in France

Comedian Malik Bentalha has expressed his growing concern about the situation of Muslims in France.
In an interview with the podcast Culture. Knock. Out (C.K.O), he confided his discomfort in the face of what he perceives as increasing social and media pressure. "Being Muslim in France is becoming more and more complicated," he said, pointing to an excessive media focus on Islam.
To illustrate his point, Bentalha recounted a revealing anecdote: "At one point, I was watching, I had switched to CNews, there was a report on Muslims, I switch to BFM, a report on Muslims... no matter what happens. Wembanyama who has bad stats, it’s because of Islam." This omnipresence of the subject in the media, often from a negative angle according to him, contributes to creating a heavy climate for Muslims in France. Faced with this situation, the comedian feels he has no choice but to speak out: "I can’t not take a stand," he affirmed.
The feeling of discomfort expressed by Malik Bentalha is not isolated. Other French personalities of Muslim faith, such as Jamel Debbouze, have also expressed their incomprehension in the face of the media representation of Islam in France.
