French Campers Stranded in Morocco for Months Await Repatriation

Stuck in Morocco for more than two months, a couple from Sète hopes to return home on May 28. The couple had to do almost the impossible to get a return ticket.
Marc Vincent and his wife had left for Morocco in February. They first found themselves stuck in the south of the country, in Ouarzazate, then in Tangier after the entry into force of the state of health emergency and confinement. "We have been abandoned by the French state," laments the couple. There are still several thousand campers, like us, stranded in Morocco, for more than two months."
Since then, returning to Sète has been an uphill battle for the couple. "The first boat, leaving Tangier and bound for Sète, which we were supposed to take on May 8, and for which we had bought a ticket, was postponed to May 12. Finally, it left, but without us. A second boat, scheduled for May 16, was also postponed to May 19. This boat did indeed leave, but once again, without us. On board were Germans bound for Genoa (Italy)," recounts the camper to the newspaper Midi Libre.
At the end of his rope, Marc Vincent finally "managed to get a return ticket to Sète on May 28." But leaving knowing that "most of those who are stuck are of a certain age" saddens him somewhat. "Even though Morocco has always treated us very well and we can easily find masks there, some medicines are starting to run out," says the Sète resident.
