French and Moroccan Navies Conduct Joint Exercises off Casablanca Coast

On its long journey across the Atlantic to join Dakar as part of Operation Corymbe, the French navy carried out training sessions with its Moroccan counterpart. Objectives: to share experiences in terms of security and military maneuvers at sea.
This training took place during a meeting at sea off Casablanca between the French crew of the high-sea patrol vessel (PHM), which sailed from the Toulon naval base on Monday, August 9, and the Moroccan corvette Sultan Moulay Ismail, according to sources from the French Ministry of the Armed Forces.
Led by Commander Ducuing, head of the PHM, these exercises consisted of replenishment at sea presentation maneuvers. They were followed by a tactical evolution exercise.
This interaction contributes to strengthening interoperability and better mutual understanding between the two navies, the same sources point out.
For the record, France has been deploying one to two PHMs for the CORYMBE operation on a quasi-permanent basis in the Gulf of Guinea, particularly to contribute to the reduction of maritime insecurity, by helping to strengthen the capacities of the navies of the Gulf countries and the centers of the structure resulting from the Yaoundé process.
