French-Algerian Man Arrested at Tangier Airport for Cannabis Smuggling Attempt

The elements of the national security of the Ibn Battouta international airport in Tanger proceeded to the arrest of a French citizen of Algerian origin. He would be involved in an attempted drug trafficking.
The suspect, aged 29, was apprehended as he was about to leave the territory, on board an exceptional flight to Nice, France, according to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
The search operations proved fruitful. In total, 4.160 kilograms of cannabis resin (chira), in the form of carefully hidden tablets inside his suitcases, were seized.
Pending the elucidation of the ins and outs of this case, as well as the possible ramifications of this criminal activity, both nationally and internationally, the accused was taken into custody.
