French-Algerian and Russian Nationals Arrested in Casablanca on Interpol Warrants

The police services arrested, this week, in Casablanca a Franco-Algerian and a Russian national, involved in various cases. They were both the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by Interpol.
The first arrest took place last Tuesday at the Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca. It is that of a 27-year-old Russian national who was getting off a plane from Mauritania. During the check, the security services discovered that he was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by the Russian judicial authorities for his alleged involvement in a criminal network specializing in theft, reports Al Akhbar. Pending the completion of the investigation and the completion of the required procedures for extradition, the accused was placed in custody.
The other foreigner arrested during this week is a 47-year-old French national of Algerian origin, wanted by Interpol (International Criminal Police Organization (ICPO) for his alleged involvement in unauthorized alcohol distribution circuits. The accused was arrested in flagrante delicto in a restaurant in the El Hank district of Casablanca, according to the same source. During the check, the security services found that he was the subject of an international arrest warrant for his involvement in drug trafficking. The search of his home proved fruitful. In total, 2,378 bottles of alcohol were seized. After being placed in custody, he will be brought before the competent prosecutor’s office, pending a possible extradition to France.
