French Actor Brahim Bouhlel Jailed in Morocco Over Controversial Video, Sparks Outcry

The conviction by the Moroccan justice system of Brahim Bouhlel continues to fuel controversy in the artistic community. Franck Gastambide and some members of the "Validé" team have spoken out on the case, deploring a heavy sentence for a publication made, above all, to make people laugh.

Brahim Bouhlel was sentenced to eight months in prison for the dissemination of a video in which he insults and mocks certain children and the Moroccan people. He was accompanied by the influencer Zbarbooking and the comedian Hedi Bouchenafa. The "En passant pécho" actor actually managed to escape the scandal by returning to France very quickly. Not so lucky, on the other hand, for Brahim Bouhlel, who had to face justice, even after publicly apologizing, confused to have shocked so many people. He will serve 8 months in prison (1 year for the Moroccan Zbarbooking).

It must be said that in disseminating such a video, the actor did not expect such a turnaround. The reactions had been strong in Morocco, but also in France. Many rappers like Niro, Lacrim or Rohff had condemned the comedian’s remarks. Booba, for his part, denounced the lack of support from Franck Gastambide and the "Validé" team towards Brahim. He also deplored the sentence imposed on him by the Moroccan justice system.

Before him, the rapper Canardo had been the first to denounce this conviction. But the lack of reaction from the "Validé" team members worried until Saidou Camara finally spoke out (at last) on social networks. He is the one who plays the role of William in the series. He posted a photo of himself with Brahim Bouhlel on Instagram. The caption reads: "When a brother is in trouble, we don’t turn our backs on him, we correct him. That’s what family is, strength to my brother." Following him, Franck Gastambide, Sabrina Ouazani and Abel Bencherif all commented, expressing their proximity of thought to Brahim.
