Franco-Moroccan Man Loses French Citizenship Over Foiled Terror Plot

The French authorities have stripped of his nationality the Franco-Moroccan Karim Kinali, according to a decree published this week in the Official Journal.
Aged 32, Karim Kinali had planned in 2015 to carry out an attack targeting police officers, gendarmes, the prefect of Orléans and a nuclear power plant. He was sentenced in 2019 to seven years in prison, according to the Center for Terrorism Analysis.
According to 20 minutes, a Franco-Turkish woman was also stripped of her French nationality for the same reasons. But unlike the Moroccan born in El Jadida, she was born in Lyon, France and could appeal the decision, as "only dual nationals born as foreigners can lose French nationality".
However, the deprivation of nationality can be decided in case of attack on the fundamental interests of the nation or in case of conviction for a terrorist crime or offense. And this is the case of the two dual nationals who have just lost their French nationality. According to the French Ministry of the Interior, 19 people have been stripped of their nationality for having been convicted of terrorism.
