Franco-Moroccan Lawmaker Sarah El Haïry Named Youth Secretary in French Cabinet

Announced a few days ago in the new government of Jean Castex, the Franco-Moroccan (MoDem) deputy from the 5th constituency of Loire-Atlantique, Sarah El Haïry, was finally appointed this Sunday, July 26, 2020, Secretary of State, in charge of Youth and Engagement with the Minister of National Education, Youth and Sports.
At 31 years old, Sarah El Haïry is joining the government of Jean Castex. Born to Franco-Moroccan parents, a doctor father and a businesswoman mother, the MoDem deputy passed her baccalaureate at the Lyautey high school in Casablanca, after schooling in Metz in particular. She worked in the lunch voucher company of the Up group at the end of her law studies.
While she is on Valérie Oppelt’s (LREM) list, the new Secretary of State and Spokesperson for MoDem was also elected to the Nantes city council on Sunday, June 28. She should sit on the metropolitan council.
Known for her outspokenness, the Franco-Moroccan is described by her entourage as "endowed with enormous energy". At the height of the coronavirus, she had criticized the Édouard Philippe government, particularly on the tracking of coronavirus carriers via mobile phones.
