France Unlikely to Welcome Foreign Tourists This Summer, Health Minister Warns

Moroccans and other foreigners will not spend the next summer vacation in France due to the covid-19 pandemic. This is the fear expressed last Thursday by the French Minister of Health, Olivier Véran.
"I have some doubts about the ability of Europeans to leave their countries in large numbers to go to another neighboring country. [...] I’m not sure it’s reasonable to anticipate, to consider it," the minister said on LCI. For the Minister of Health, it is not obvious that France will welcome the Germans, the English, the Dutch, the Moroccans this summer...
Better, Olivier Véran does not hope for their arrival. "I’m not sure we should expect massive population transfers during July or August across states," he adds. The French Minister of Health says he is unable to say how long the tourism sector could resume due to the covid-19 that is raging in almost all countries in the world, including France.
"As soon as we can get the tourism machine going again, as soon as we can give the French the summer they legitimately aspire to, we will do it. [...] We will do it when it doesn’t put them in danger," Olivier Véran assures.
