France Tightens Entry Requirements for Moroccan Travelers Amid COVID-19 Concerns

The French embassy in Morocco has revised the entry conditions on French territory. New requirements are imposed on Moroccans due to the epidemiological situation in the kingdom.

According to the embassy’s clarifications, a person located in Morocco and wishing to come to France must receive authorization from the Moroccan and French authorities, while a person located in France and wishing to go to Morocco must be authorized by France to leave its territory and by Morocco to enter its own.

Since August 7, 2020, Morocco is no longer on the EU list of safe countries whose nationals are allowed to come to Europe without restrictions due to its unsatisfactory epidemiological situation. Following this recommendation and in application of the decree of August 14, 2020, amending that of July 10, 2020, Morocco is now on the list of countries with active circulation of the virus infection, the embassy of France points out.

Thus, Moroccans or any other person coming from Morocco are required to have a negative PCR test dated less than 72 hours, except for children under 11 years old, an international travel derogatory certificate and a sworn statement attesting that the person does not present symptoms of Covid-19 infection and that he has not been in contact with a confirmed case of the coronavirus.

On the Moroccan side, Moroccan citizens, regardless of their situation, and foreign citizens with the status of residents in Morocco, immediate family members (spouses and children) of Moroccan and French citizens residing in Morocco, regardless of their nationality, are allowed to come to Morocco. They will have to present a certificate that will be issued to them by the Moroccan Consulate in France closest to their place of residence (supporting documents to be presented to the consulate and a copy of the resident card).
