France Revokes Citizenship of Bataclan Terrorist’s Brother, Faces Deportation

Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne has stripped Karim Mohamed-Aggad, brother of Foued, the third suicide bomber in the terrorist attack that hit the Bataclan concert hall on November 13, 2015, of his French nationality. He could be deported to Algeria, his father’s country, or Morocco, the country of origin of his mother.
Karim Mohamed-Aggad has lost his French nationality. Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne has stripped the brother of Foued Mohamed-Aggad, one of the Bataclan terrorists, of his French nationality, according to a decree published in the official journal on Friday, November 16, and consulted by France Bleu Alsace. This 33-year-old man was born and raised in Wissembourg in the north of Bas-Rhin. Known to the French justice system, he was sentenced to nine years in prison in 2016 for joining the Islamic State (IS). At the time, Karim had left with his younger brother, Foued Mohamed-Aggad, for a stay in the Iraqi-Syrian zone between December 2013 and April 2014.
Foued later became one of the suicide bombers, a member of the terrorist squad that attacked the Bataclan on November 13, 2015. Upon his return, Karim had been arrested and then convicted. He will be released in 2022. But his legal troubles are not behind him. Three months later, he was sentenced to six months in prison for violating his obligation not to leave Wissembourg as part of an individual control measure.
