France Repatriates 55 Nationals from Syrian Camps, Including 40 Children

A group of French nationals consisting of 40 children and 15 women have been repatriated from Syria by France. They were detained in the camps in northeastern Syria.
In a statement released on Thursday, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicates that among the 40 minors repatriated, "7 are orphaned or isolated children. The 15 women are aged 19 to 42 and 3 of them are subject to an arrest warrant." The minors were handed over to the child welfare services and will be subject to medical and social monitoring. As for the women, they were entrusted to the competent judicial authorities.
The Quai d’Orsay stresses that "hundreds of French women are still being held in the Syrian camps..." About 300 French minors who had stayed in areas of terrorist group operations have returned to France, including 77 by repatriation, as specified in early October by the Minister of Justice, Eric Dupond-Moretti. There are still about a hundred French women and nearly 250 French children still being held in the Syrian camps, according to the coordinator of intelligence and the fight against terrorism, Laurent Nunez.
